Hydrasynth MIDI to Pyramid

I am trying to send MIDI from Hydrasynth Explorer to Pyramid.

I can use the Hydrasynth to play another synth directly via 5-pin MIDI. My keystep will send MIDI to the Pyramid on any channel (multitrack off) and the screen indicates incoming MIDI. But using the same cable from the Hydra to the Pyramid there is no incoming MIDI.

What am I doing wrong?

It seems this is a hardware issue with the Pyramid, probably the MIDI optocoupler:

I don’t know why you don’t see any incoming MIDI at all on the Pyramid. I would male sure the local control on the Hydrasynth is set to ‘off”, though. I wonder if there is perhaps too much MIDI data being sent through the DIN MIDI.

I don’t know if Pyramid is able to record/process polyAT MIDI data. I suspect it probably can’t. I don’t know if you can disable or filter out the polyAT being sent by the Hydrasynth or, if you can, if that would work (if you perhaps just want to record some notes and some CCs or something). If you do want to record and sequence the polyAT data you will probably need a sequencer that can be configured to record it. A search suggested Ableton Live 11+ or (I suppose, some) Akai MPCs should work (it was an AI generated response, so beware).
