I am one of the many others… i realy miss this from the old Hermod
I think this is a bug, I reported it to them.
Sounds like your dreams have come true… via additional cost and HP. New expander goes unipolar from 0 - 10v.
And even bipolar from -10 to 10v! (for non-pitch cv output)
I hope they will add support for this voltage range to the outputs on the Hermod+ as well!
I think that’s a hardware limitation on Hermod+ that can’t be changed with software… but anyone correct me, if i’m wrong : )
I hope you are wrong!
I just sent a message to Squarp with a list of features I would like to see added. Many of them have already been mentioned in this thread. I also wrote suggestions on how to implement these features in to the workflow. Even if several of these suggestions has already been mentioned I still want to share my thoughts with you all. So here is my (loooong) list (sorry!):
-
Add support for looping a part of a pattern. To edit a long pattern on the Hermod+ can be a pain when you must listen back to the whole pattern before you can hear the changes you make. It would be a big help if you could loop a part of the pattern – just like you can on the Hapax. One effective implementation could be to loop the current page. That way you can change how much of a pattern you want to loop by changing the zoom-level. If there is no available easy button-combo to loop and unloop a page, maybe this could be part of the pattern edit menu where you can copy, paste and delete patterns.

Mute effects on a per step basis. Preferably from the STEP page. Maybe this could be performed with a ‘Hold a step/steps + Hold EFFECTS + scroll encoder to choose effect slot and press the encoder to mute that effect’. So you press and hold a step, when you press and hold EFFECTS at the same time you see the EFFECTS-screen and you scroll to the one you want to mute and press the encoder.
An even better feature would be to be able to parameter lock all parameters of an effect on a per step basis. I can see two ways this could be implemented. 1. Use the above suggestion for a “command” for muting an effect, but instead of muting it when pressing the encoder you enter the chosen effects parameter list and you scroll to the parameter you want to lock and you change it to the desired value. This would be a bit cumbersome but doable. 2. A more streamlined implementation would mean a redesign of the EFFECTS page. When you enter the EFFECTS-page the pads don’t represent the effect slots, instead they show the steps just as they do on the STEP-page. You can add effects and edit parameters for the effects just like you can now, and when you press and hold a step/steps and you change a parameters value while holding those steps, those changes will be locked to those specific steps. Both these implementations of “parameter-locking” would require that the mute-state of an effect is added to the parameter page of every effect (just like on the Pyramid). -
Adding mute-state to the parameter list/page of an effect would also open for another feature that I would like to request: to be able to mute effects via the modulation matrix. Maybe that could be added even if mute-state isn’t one of the parameters of the effects?
-
Support for moving steps in fine increments (micro-timing). Instead of having to zoom-in to a high resolution grid and copy the note to a nearby step it would be much more efficient if we could move steps in PPQN-steps from any zoom-level. Maybe this could be implemented with the following command: ‘Hold the step/steps you want to move + press X to move left, press Y to move right’. One press on X or Y move the held notes one PPQN (1/96th note) left or right. Bonus: Hold X och Y (while holding the step/steps) and the note jumps to the previous/next whole step (like on the Ableton Move).
-
Add support for letting MIDI on the MIDI-input pass through to the outputs on muted tracks.
-
Ability to mute individual steps. Maybe the command could be: ‘Hold STEP + press step/steps to mute/unmute’.
-
Ability to name tracks and show the names on the TRACK-screen.
-
Ability to name sequences and show the names on the SEQ-screen.
-
A clearer indication of which track is active when you are not on the TRACK page. Maybe a track number/name in a corner of the screen?
-
If the hardware on the Hermod+ allows it, add support for 0-10V from the CV outputs.
-
Support for using an envelope effect and sending it to the MOD out on a ‘1-voice > modulation’ track layout, so we can save a pair of outputs when we want to use the envelope without using pitch and gate output on that “voice”.
What are your thoughts on my suggestions of the implementations? Remember to contact Squarp directly if you have ideas about how to improve the Hermod!
Hi I would love to see in near updates :
-
More control over random effect , what I mean by that is the same thing as it is in chance - chance=velocity , I switched from a Eloquencer and what Im missing in random in Hermod+ is control over each step and no on a whole sequence , I would love to implement random effect on specific steps that I have chosen not on a whole pattern and its value of probability , what I mean by that is I have 16 step sequence/pattern and would love to put random effect specific on steps 3,7,10 and 15 and be able to set a probability of launching/happening random effect 6% on step 3, 17% on step 7, 100% on steps 10 and 15.
-
Ability to name tracks - every time I patch I use different outputs for different thing as kick snare , melody , pad ect. after a while I don’t remember which was which and what was what so that could spare my time checking each track
-
more control over glide effect - control over rise and control over fall
-
more control over scale effect - custom scales
-
less needed but would love to see I2C expander to control I2C modules with Hermod+ , I own er301 and possibility to control it via Hermod+ via I2C would be amazing
-
while sequence on a specific track Is muted allowing midi controller or Air mode to still play the track. Example : im muting sequence/pattern be cause I wanna play solo on a midi keyboard for live performance
-
If the hardware on the Hermod+ allows it, add support for 0-10V from the CV outputs. im using modules that work with 0-10V and not negative and im missing half of the octaves
I think the ability to change the order of Effects more easily would be extremely useful. As the manual states, “The position of an effect in the chain is very important…”, and indeed it is.
Changing the order by moving existing effects currently entails a fine dance where effects are deleted in one slot and re-applied in another, and of course then having to reenter the parameters. Some times copy/paste works if there are enough empty slots available but this isn’t always the case. It is somewhat laborious and annoying.
If this could be made less laborious I would be grateful.
Appreciate some of these may be particular to my own style:
- A turing machine style effect - sort of exposing the track generator options via an effect so can manipulate in real-time, with additional control for mutation depth over time
- Additional option on Euclidian effect to only have odd / even fills - I like to map CV input to fills so I can tweak in rolls & fills in drum patterns, sometimes want to keep these on/off beat
- Additional option on Euclidian effect to have a “bias” to place more fills at the start, middle or end of the # of indicated steps.
- An option to delay the drop to 0v on the reset output by n bars or seconds. I use this to output to start /stop audio recording on Disting Mk4, been able to delay reset would allow long release envelopes, reverb tails etc to complete before stopping recording. Can use an external EG to same effect, but would be great to free that up.
I would love the option for all the tacks to follow the scale / key of the transpose track.
Also playback direction of sequences.
