Well tbh this is how I assumed it works. Not 100% sure. To shift the clock backwards, it has to skip time which will sound sloppy at the start.
Do we think this beta is worthy of the 2.0 designation? No new arp patterns, only one new FX, still only 8 drum lanes … not so sure.
Does it matter? There are new features, not just bug fixes. It’s not like there is a limit on the number of ‘major’ versions they can release.
I dunno, after a year wait the new features are a bit thin on the ground.
i believe Hapax should now be able to shift MIDI note gate_on backwards. As well as MIDI clock if it waits for a bar before starting to play after it receives a clock from Ableton or any clock generator (e.g. MultiClock).
I didn’t test it yet though.
I disagree. Hapax is still an amazing product, and given a lot of larger manufacturers, it’s great that we get new features at all.
I could get into the reasons I am happy with Squarp and the Hapax, but I somehow doubt I would change your mind.
I believe there are breaking changes, which would be the usual reason to bump the major version.
Got it, that makes sense
I agree that Hapax is amazing, it’s fully replaced my cirklon after all. I just wish it would be more amazing
…. Maybe smoke dreams. One example is the chord function on the Hapax, which for me doesn’t work anywhere near as well or produce as musical results as the OXI One (which I also own), so I currently have the OXI hanging off the hapax just to produce chord sequences.
I use them together as well, makes a great combination.
I Dream of only requiring one! ![]()
chord function? are you writing ballads?
You know those things you endlessly arpeggiate in your bedroom, they’re called chords ![]()
i dont use those. i make my own chords if at all
It’s funny to listen about one of the most advanced scale-related chord producing equipment that you can’t create chords out of playing a Hapax. Even the transpositioning is available on the channel 16, each track separately applied or not.
Sounds like the user needs to get involved and not only wait that someone magically brings the patterns to the table ready and served.
My suggestion for the creative process is to use a combination of fxs and the chord mode. Will bring excellent results in no time. Arpeggios and euclideans and my favorite already from the Pyramid, the delay, for example.
@Thibault Please can you unblock poly AT - just so we can record it and play it back?
Hi Leighzi88, could you elaborate on that please. What exactly do you use the OXI for in combination with the Hapax for chords? Does it suggest chords that go well together, or…? I own the hapax but not OXI. I do have a Torso T1, but the interface is much more limited.
i think he was trolling
Hi Niels, yes you’re right - the OXI chord interface very much assists in making natural and beautiful chord progressions. For some reason the layout, pick and place ability and general UI makes the OXI far superior for that particular aspect of song writing. In all other aspects I believe the Hapax is superior.
So the next big feature request for Hapax 2.5 or 3.0 would be: ‘Please implement OXI chord-inspirational-song-writing-mode’…?
I see different opinions. Haven’t delved deep enough in the Hapax yet, fresh owner. p.s.: I was once expecting an ‘inspirational chord suggestion feature’ from my Kordbot, but it did not do it for me.
