As a new Hapax user and with a MioXL due to arrive in the next few days this thread has been extremely helpful in answering my questions - special thaks to @sgarza for the detailed explanation and screenshots.
I have one question really concerning my dedicated hardware multi-clock that I use with my DAW. The DAW as master when playing sends audio to the Multi-clock from my dedicated audio interface output based on DAW tempo to establish the clock. The Multiclock can also be used manually for DAWLESS jams using its internal clock. The clock is solid and has been great for DAW sync. It has 4 MIDI output channels to my hardware but I have had to use Thru boxes as I have way more then 4 Hardware devices to sync hence the MioXL purchase.
I am not really sure the best way to set this up with the Hapax. I guess I have a few options:
-
Send one physical MIDI Din from my Multi-clock to my Hapax which in turn sends it to my devices via USB using the 16th Virtual Cable Method set as Main Clock only as per the above example.
-
Or send the Multiclock MIDI Din into the MioXM and send to all hardware selected in the Auracle X (including Hapax) which would save on a MIDI cable to the Hapax. I also have other sequencers that could benefit from this and I guess could leave the Hapax turned off when jamming with say just an Elektron
I guess in a nutshell I am asking is it better for my Hapax to receive MIDI DIN clock directly from my Hardware clock via DIN or receive it from the MioXL / Auracle i.e. via USB and also let the other hardware receive clock independently from the Hapax
Hope that makes sense
