Doubling halving steps position in a patterm

Hi guys,

we all know the usual shortcuts:

Hold 2ND + + to double pattern length
Hold 2ND + – to halve pattern length
Hold 2ND + Right arrow button to double pattern length and copy events
Hold 2ND + Left arrow button to halve pattern length and delete events

Now I would like to Expand (or Shrink) a pattern so that the step positions are doubled (or halved).

Let me explain with expamples

Say I have a 8-steps long pattern, with 3 steps at positions 1, 3, 8:

01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08
X . . X . . . X

I would like to easily transform this into

01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16
X . . . . . . X . . . . . . . X

another example
01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08
. X . . X X . .

x2 →
01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16
. . . X . . . . . X . X . . . .

Similarly, I would have aa divided /2 function:
01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08
. X . . . X . X

/2 →
01 02 03 04
X . X X

This would work on polyphonic track, not only monophonic lanes.
So for example
01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08
. G . . . A . C
D . . A . . . .

/2 →
01 02 03 04
G . A C
D A . .

Steps on “odd” (2, 5, 7 etc) positions would end up in “half” positions (like 1.5. 2.5 etc. which translate in theoretical terms by a half rest followed by the note, roughly speaking).

I hope that makes sense

I often happen to record something, that sometimes I would to “spread-double” or “spread-shrink”. The audible result is similar to applying clock div /2 or clock mult x2 to slow down or speed up the recording, but at the pattern edition level.

This feature has been raised in Pattern Speed (ie: half-time, double-time)? but the warping feature is not convenient because you have to click on +/- as many times to reach double/half the time, unless I misunderstood how it works. It’s nice for quickly making local “tuplets”, not for what I want to achieve.

Anyone feeling the same?

I can double the length of a pattern, then select steps and move them around etc. but it’s a pain when you have a lot of steps etc.

What would be the quickest way to do that?
