Im in the market for a Hapax, just in the research phase. Ive watched a ton of videos, and done a lot of research, but have never found an answer to this particular question.
What I want to do is basically use my current controllers as glorified MIDI to CV converters, and use the Hapax as the brain. The 4 CV outs aren’t enough for my needs, and so what I want to do is have the Hapax connected by MIDI to my Oxi One (Mk I), and use it to control my modular rack with CV. And then the same with my Keystep Pro, and again with my beat step Pro controlling drums.
Would this be possible with this setup with the Hapax as the central brain of the whole operation?
So send MIDI note to the Oxi, Beat Step, and Key Step and let them convert the MIDI? That’s really more a question of whether those devices can convert the MIDI to CV. In that set up, Hapax would just be sending MIDI; it wouldn’t care what happens to the messages downstream.
But it’s a bit of a waste of those boxes. I’d just use a MIDI to CV converter. I use Befaco MIDI Thing 2. But there are loads of other options in Euro and as free-standing boxes.
Thank you so much for the response! So theoretically possible, but basically I need to ask he Oxi and Arturia forums respectively. Makes sense! Thanks again!
