Using smartpads in step mode question

Hi there,

I have set the scale to something exotic, and have set midi in “assign notes” to smartpad whites;

This is great, and I can record what I play from an external keyboard in live mode perfectly.

But I can’t seem to use this method to enter chords in step mode. Sometimes it works, but only once and only if I just changed the “assign notes” param in settings. Very erratic, really. It works when I set “assign notes” to “keypad”, not “smartpad”.

Can we even do this?
