Switching between pattern and song mode in live situation

Hello ! First post  !
I dont own an hapax (Yet) but I had the chance to test it out over a friends studio.
Still waiting to be able to buy mine but there’s some questions i couldn’t answer myself :

How does the switching between pattern mode and song mode occurs in a live situation ? Does it stay on clock ? Does it have a beat countdown option (next first beat after pressing etc… )?

My goal is to use song mode for making “break” or “bridge” in my set that will happen, when activated, only once or twice in my set .
My idea is :

  • In pattern mode Row 1 will be a loop of my “verse 1” .
  • Then switching to song mode for making a “bridge or break”.
  • And then, at the end of the song length, it automatically goes to row 2 that will be my “chorus” .

That lead in another question : Could i launch any song from an external midi controller using PC# or CC# on a specific midi channel ?

If it’s not possible , could it be implemented in a future update ? Ouf course in a way if the community found this useful and also if it’s possible to do so.

Does anyone can share his experience on the subject ?
thanks

Hi @General_Finesse !

Yes, there is a “SYNC” parameter you can tweak to your liking to ‘schedule’ the pattern change after pressing a pad/row, etc.
cf. the Synchronized pattern changes section of the manual.

It is not currently possible, but adding it in a future update could be possible.

Hello Thibault, thank you for the fast reply ! Very clear now ! seems to be quite easy to switch between pattern and song mode!

Should i use the contact form to propose the update ? Or a specific thread in forum ?

// I think it could be great to have an external option to control the start of a song externally and be able to go back in a specific row. I use a lot an external midi foot controller to launch “scene” in my set.//
