Step Mode - Hapax not copying/pasting all note events in selected region

I’ve only had Hapax for a week, and I’m really struggling to figure out what I’m doing wrong.

Let’s say I have a pattern that is 8 bars long, I have written the first four bars, and I want to copy and paste bars 1 and 2 into bars 5 and 6. I follow this procedure:

  • Zoom in so that only the first two bars are in the viewport.
  • Hold the leftmost bottom piano roll pad, and the rightmost bottom piano roll pad, then press copy. My expectation is that all note events in those two measures have been copied.
  • Use the arrow buttons to move the viewport so that bars 5 and 6 are in view.
  • Hold the leftmost bottom piano roll pad and press paste. I can see note events pasted in the viewport and on the piano roll pads.

However, when I play bars 5 and 6, or examine the note events closely, the events from the last 1/8 of the time I was trying to copy and paste either weren’t pasted or weren’t copied in the first place, and I have to write them back in.

At first I imaged that, for reasons beyond my comprehension, selecting events was last-piano-roll-pad-exclusive, that is, events contained in the horizontal space represented by the rightmost pad used to define the selection aren’t actually selected/copied (even though all of the pads on that column are lit dimly red). However, if I zoom out to the next higher resolution and try to select using columns 1-9 (my two measures plus a chunk of the next measure), when I paste I get the events represented by columns 1-8 plus the first half of the time represented by column 9. So it’s not exclusive, it’s simply not copying or pasting events from the last chunk of the selected area.

None of the events that begin in the uncopied area extend beyond the selection.

What’s strange is that I could have sworn it was working as expected earlier. Is there some setting I could have changed that would result in this behavior? I can’t imagine what I am doing wrong.

Thanks y’all!

Yeah i’ve been experiencing exactly this for a while and keep forgetting to email the team about it. Definitely worth sending them a bug report while they are working on this next firmware!
