Song mode Skipping bars

Hi everyone I am having a pretty frustrating issue in song mode, here is an example of the issue;
If i create a section that is an 8 bar intro, followed by a 1 bar drop section, goin into another 8 bar loop. when the second 8 bar section starts it actually starts playing in bar 2 instead of the beginning. any time i create a section that is for buildups or drops it always makes the next section start however many bars in the previous section is. Has anyone experienced this, if so what are the fixes.

not the first to encounter. supposedly this is intended behavior but i’m still not entirely clear on how/why

i have encountered this behavior in Song mode as well, long before 2.10, and never could figure out an acceptable solution other than setting all Patterns to “restart” so that they all have a hard reset with each section change. but then if you did want some or all of the Patterns to run “free” across any of the Sections (in my experience) the time jump comes back into play when the Section change occurs

I would try setting the 2nd patterns to “re-start” instead of “free”, and make sure you are syncing pattern changes on 1 bar (you probably are already)

In the default trig: free mode, it sees that the last pattern has only played 1 bar, the 2nd pattern contains 8 bars so it keeps the position of the last pattern (1 bar / 1 bar), then updates to 1 bar / 8 bars and plays the remaining 7. If you have mismatched pattern lengths and aren’t trying to do something remixy and keep the time, then you’ll want to use trig: re-start. It’s a confusing default behavior.

Yeah this tripped me up a few times, too.

With the default free-running behavior it’s the same thing as running a 16-step pattern and a 10-step pattern simultaneously. They will drift out of sync over time.

I’m of the opinion that re-trig should be the default to avoid exactly this kind of confusion.
