I’m trying to figure out how to set a default velocity for the chords in live mode. Can’t find anything in the manual or here on the forum.
The questions been asked, sort of, but not answered.
The velocity I set in step or live mode/keyboard doesn’t carry over to chord mode which just plays at 127 I’m assuming.
Basically I’m just trying to have quieter chords so I can play single notes over the top with the same synth but with my midi controller.
Thanks!
Anyone figure out how to do this?
One year later, a new user asking the same question. I looked in the manual and did not find it.
How do we change the velocity of the chord mode? Since it outputs at 100 Using it to control something very velocity sensitive like DX7 is quite unpleasant. While I could use effects, that also seems to affect the recorded MIDI. I want to change what MIDI velocity I record.
If this is not implemented yet, maybe use bottom right knob since it is free? It would be ideal if this was a knob so we could easily change the velocity as chords are played.
A workaround suggestion: add shaper effect and adjust the velocity to a softer level.
That is what I have been doing. The issue is the effects operate on the output of the track, so MIDI I record to this track from my DX7II or other MIDI controllers would also be affected, that results in velocity levels that are far lower than I played.
A work around would be to use the shaper to get lower velocities from Chord mode, then record the output of the track to another track so the result of the Shaper effect’s is recorded to the other track. Then from this second track I can record with MIDI controllers. Unfortunately the Output effect does not allow internal destinations so it looks like I need to route a MIDI out to MIDI in?
Firmware version? Setting velocity on Step page takes effect on Chord mode for me. Best I can remember it has always worked this way…
when you go into step mode and change the value of default velocity there does it change the default value in live mode?
Thanks! I must have missed this. Setting the velocity value in the top left screen of Step mode does in fact change the the velocity of chord mode.
I am on OS 2.21
