Roland SP404mk2 v3 - midi mode B

Just made this for the new midi mode B. It’s only lightly tested it so if you find any errors hit me up & I’ll fix it here. Got lazy & couldn’t be bothered with setting up new definitions to control the bus & input channels, they’re intended to be set & forget anyway.

Thanks for this, I was playing my SP last night with the hapax and it was a bit confusing keeping track of what notes trigger what pads. How does this definition actually assist with that - what does the N_ command result in on the hapax? (I haven’t seen that used in a definition before). Thanks!

Oh, it’s a pyramid file never mind. Wonder whether the same sort of thing could ever be done on hapax?

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, just got my Hapax today. If nobody’s made a Hapax definition file for the midi mode B yet I’ll get onto it in the next week or so.

Gotta admit the 404mk2’s pad numbers not aligning with midi notes is kinda confusing to keep track of. Fingers crossed it’s not too hard to work around on the Hapax.

I gave up trying. I just dont understand how to get it sorted. Hope you get it figured out

Good timing, I’m just about to start writing up that definition file.

Out of curiousity, do you care about the definition being a poly or drum definition?

Asking because I was planning to write it as a poly, I tend to use/sequence samplers differently to drum machines. Seeing I grew up with Propellerheads’ Recycle & Reason, was planning on using the Hapax & 404mk2 in a similar way. If you’re after a drum definition version I can probs do that too.

Not entirely sure. I feel poly makes a bit more sense to access all 16 pads vs 8 in drum mode. Appreciate your time in this.

No problems! I like making stuff like this, so it’s all good. Might make a definition for chromatic mode next.

Nice one,
I will start kicking it around this week, I will let you know if I have any hiccups
