When I’m in stepmode CHORD, the Rec button is lit (can’t be turned off). Why is that?

Is it that it treats it like MONO editing mode, where the record button is lit.

Then Mono /Poly.
The Mono mode will highlight the pads if any note is present in a step. The Poly mode only highlight pads if the step has the current note selected.
So as you are in chord mode, you will inputing more than one note in steps, it then makes sense to restrict the display mode to Mono to show you that notes are there in the steps.
