Question for Analog Rytm 2 + Hapax users

Have you been able to pretty much entirely replace / rely on the Hapax sequencer instead of the in built one?

People rightly talk about the power of Elektron sequencers but my fuzzy logic suggests the Hapax - which I only got recently - would do the same and more?

I’m trying to simplify my setup so having the Hapax as the singular brain and not having to relearn the Rytm sequencer would be a big time saver for me!

Thanks

I use a combination of both Elektron seq and Hapax. It is definately faster to program a beat in the Hapax and especially anything beyond 64 steps. After this you can easily record to the Elektron sequencer awell which makes it easier for track muting. But I mostly use the combination of both where I program drum sequences on the Hapax and do p-lock and ‘Elektron seq stuff’ on the first 16 steps of the Elektron device so I dont have to scroll through pages. Anything on the synth of sample level is more flexible from the Elektron device itself. The rest Hapax does just as well but faster imo.

This is helpful. I guess you mean you export the midi patterns to the Rytm somehow?

No need for exporting just use the REC/PLAY key combo in Elektron sequencer for live recording of whatever you make in Hapax.

I like to keep most of the sequencing in the AR to avoid choking midi out on the Hapax, so I use a combination of both sequencers. I make the basic rhythm pattern with maybe some conditional trigs on the AR sequencer, then add occasional fill style hits from the Hapax sequencer with longer pattern length. Sometimes I’ll use the AR synth machines chromatically from Hapax.
