Pyramid USB Ground Loop + USB MIDI

So I’d worked around this issue for years, but when plugged into my mioXL I’ve had great luck through the years but sometimes when certain LEDs are lit on the unit, I get noticable hum in my signal path. I recently reorged my workflow however and I find myself needing to sample gear I’m sequencing with the pyramid.

The problem is this: The PSU that came with the unit, immediately solves the hum issue. HOWEVER… I permanently lose the ability to sequence using USB MIDI. Are there any solutions anyone has come up with that would allow clean power from the USB but still allowing for USB MIDI to be used? I sometimes sequence PC synths with it and it’s annoying to have to swap back and forth.

Has anyone had luck with those USB hum dongles and the pyramid?

You need something like this: Ground loop adapter for Touché

That’s the one I used to use, but others I am sure are available. Basically you plus one end into your device, one into your computer, and the third into the mains power.

It separates the power lines of the USB to go to the mains, and the data lines to go to the computer, preventing differences in ground levels (which is the cause of the hum)

So I do recognize that not everyone is a fan of Amazon, but I snagged this as a cheap experiment, and it works:
