Poly to Drum Track

I created a beat on a Poly track by mistake. The poly track connects to my MPC and I’m using it as a sampler. I’d like to switch to a Drum track and edit the pattern. But when I switch the track type all the notes disappear. I tried setting the BD lane to the same note value and I can trigger the right sample but all of the note information from the Poly track is not in the lane. Also tried copy and pasting the note values but that also didn’t seem to work.

Thanks

Hi There ,

this is a very good topic. I was about to create a topic about the benefice of using DRUM track instead of POLY and I think it is ‘somehow’ related…

So first WHY do you want to switch to DRUM track?

  1. Restrain view of the eight lanes ?
  2. rewrite some parts with Pad Velocity layout ?
  3. changing midi channel of a single pad/lane ?

Cheers

I can confirm it doesn’t work from Drum Track to Poly too.. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Notes from drum track are magically locked by an evil spell in another dimension :ogre:

To switch to a Poly track i used a MIDI loopback

can you walk us through that in more detail? I have not recorded from MIDI in yet.

Hi, I use Midi Out (A or B or C or D) port on track 2 ( Drum Track ) and route back the midi cable in the Midi in (A or B) for track 1 ( Poly track ) , be sure the good input ( A or B ) is set on the track then Record + Play. Ur done

Cheers! Are there midi destinations for record ? I wonder if I can use this to quantize the register effect

No midi out TO Track yet on the Hapax :smiling_face_with_tear: Or Midi Bounce in place ( on the running pattern ), that would be a great feature. BUT.. I was able to record a quantize Register FX using the Midi Thru of the TR8S back in a free Track for capturing ideas with the same technique as above
