Pitchbend Wheel record not reseting to 0

Hello, when I record pitchbend messages live from an external midi controller using the midi in trs port on the Hapax, the automation lane doesn’t reset to 0 beetwen PBW modulations, it seems to ‘laggy’ to detect that the modwheel is back to his central position. Please can anyone confirm I can record a PBW message properly on the Hapax?
Thanks for help

Did you set the default value of pitch bend to 0? That will reset the pb to 0 when you switch to a new pattern, which might help?

Hey Maarten , PB is 0 by defaut, but my question is how fast/precise the data are recorded by the hapax inside one pattern, for the moment I’ve try to reduce the rate of transmission to 24ppqn and I get better results…

Here you see the first bend is OK and others don’t go back to 0

But indeed it’s good to know that the pitchbend will be reseted on the next pattern  Thx 4 Help

And no problem with ableton using using the same gear

I am a bit surprised there’s no more responses about this subject, as recording midi seems to be a basic fonction for a midi sequencer. I have to say I am a bit disapointed about this and it could be a major drawback for me.
If someone can confirm that it works please report or I will report this as a bug.
Thx for help

Tested with Nektar panorama T4 PBW MIDI IN A & Trs and Ruismaker Rozeta XY and Pitchbend wheel on ios on USB DEVICE IN. It’s impossible to record a proper synth part with Pitchbend wheel modulation live on the HAPAX, the automation lane is completely BROKEN. :scream:

I never recorded pitch bend before (which can have very fast movements, especially if you release the bender and it springs back.

However, I think Hapax should be able to process this. I think this might be a bug. Did you contact Squarp via their contact form?

Hi Maarten, I’ll report the bug for sure.

BIG thanks for coming by to help
Really appreciated :v:
Thx

hi - just researching the forum as i am this close to pull the trigger on a Hapax. I own an OXI one - the workflow on the OXI … i feel i need to force myself to learn unintuitive second shift, knob pushes all the time as one of the many things im struggling with - i use pitchbend extensively in my compositions from pads to basslines and the Oxi One is just not delivering atmo - i need a sequencer where i can just record in the pitchbend as i play notes or secondary record the pitchbend afterwards or draw it in … none of the three works for me with the Oxi (i can draw it in with its own quirks) … so my question is how does pitchbend work on Hapax also since the latest update  thank you!

Hello, pitchbend works well with the hapax, I did some test with the latest update and the recorded pb messages are tight , sometimes I still have the pitchbend not resetting to zero ( maybe due to my nektar panorama t4) but thanks to the new push to reset to default feature on the hapax I can edit them very quickly.

i use the lfo or draw some automation in and its been an amazing experience. im a grid step writing freakazoid tho. not so much playing into hapax. to me its got more than i need to be happy. dont worry, youll love it i think.

Hello, I think you have to consider that keyboardists like to play with the Pitch and Modwheel live , it’s an essential part of their performance. Post editing is cool but will never replace a live performance. Luckily the Hapax is doing both :star_struck:

@funk313 you are very welcome, please report your experience with the pitchbend wheel as soon as you get the BEAST and don’t forget that you can “fix” the PB automation if sometimes not resetting to 0 between PB actions with the “push knob to reset to default value” in the automation view. Also if you please, tell us what midi controller or synth you use.

Have fun

best
