Hello,

I just received my Hapax, impatient to try but I don”t see any manual.
I do a try without but as an evidency I need it so I start printing and just get tons of mistakes like 2 pages coming together on back sides, so I have to print page 20 as 14 and all betweens are not at correct place

Then no more ink and nothin at local shop so I have to order on Amazon and wait.

At the end I will have a bad manual that costs me a lot, with flying pages unless buying extra binder and sleeves for a big unpractical manual.

I had same madness with some Elektron devices and can’t get for such price machines why not printing a manual ?

Economy, ecology ??? In both cases it makes no sens, either you print or read on a screen at the end it costs more for you and nature

Yes if you read correctly I got this link as I started printing it. But it is not like a real good original manual

The manual is constantly changing due to firmware updates & upgrades and a hard copy would be obsolete in no time.

That’s finally a good argument. But the basic start could be really what it needs to start. Basic sequencer functions that will probably not change in the future

There is a quick start guide though I’m pretty sure?

The official documentation website is decent when coupled with their videos. Though I would like some search and filtering options for improved browsing. And user defined bookmarks would be really nice to have, too.

From the reasons why I choosed Hapax is becaused I use solar energy and computer/screen consume far too much electricity. Also streaming is boring,not practical and polluting

Oh yep I confused the quick start and another paper I get it yet. I’m in complete building of a new truck with music studio and it’s complete mess. And I started some big work to go more quickly for the studio part (I need at least 1 more week of work !!) and doing ten things at a time I confused it with the other single page paper !! The quick start get under somethin else on the desk.

So my bad yes there is the necessary :zany_face:

cool to hear you’re doing something interesting & different than the norm!

are there any offline browsing applications you’re using already? i believe there’s a few ways you can ‘download’ or copy the current version of a website (the Hapax manual in this case) for use and browsing while offline. it could be a low-energy solution potentially? there might even be something that works with an e-reader type device.

not a perfect solution for you unfortunately, but just wanted to throw that idea out there. good luck with the printed version if nothing else, would love to see that!

The next problem being that I’m electrosensitiv. So as screens creates lots of electromagnetic waves I have to stay at lest 1M from it, and on a laptop you can’t read correctly unless zooming a lot and it makes it unconfortable. And also power laptop automatically power my TP-Link, the 4G antenna is 25M away and the truck is quite well protected but even at this distance it’s bad for me.
Smartphone is impossible. In airplane mode they tend to cumulate EMWaves around and transform them to EMfields. I got glasses protecting quite well from EMW but it’s almost impossible to protect from EMF (EMW enters body mostly by the eyes)
And I won’t buy an e-reader. At first because I don’t like it, and I think most of them have bluetooth (and even desactivated it will be same problem as a smartphone in airplane mode)

That’s also from the reasons why I bought Hapax, to control my whole studio from far away, mostly machines in 230V 50hz.

Right now it really turned to nightmare to take back a printing recto/verso even with the help of chat GPT already 4 pages in wrong orders and the more I calculate for it to be good the more i’m going mad !
I wonder why there is no function to take back a printing stopped a previous day !

I was glad about reading the rest of the manual in my bed to fall a bit asleep but don’t really want to reprint everything !

It should be pretty straightforward to download and print the downloadable PDF manual and quickstart guide, chat gpt not required.

The plus side to not every product shipping with a thick manual (which would be obsoleted after the first major software update anyways) is that we don’t need to shred as many forests to make paper disposable products. But the option is always there to print at home, or pay a print shop to print documents from digital if that format suits you better.

Totally wrong, after a few minutes reading on a screen you did more pollution, and worse pollution.

But to save paper and ink I was trying to see to print many pages in one as the original manual is very big size and for that I needed GPT and I’m still actually registering for free adobe pro to remove marges that makes it impossible to read with the original giant marges.

So maybe they should offer a more printable version !!
Or just at least the quick start should contain a bit more basics, like doubling a pattern with same notes, or empty, etc…

And I don’t needed GPT to print i’m not stupid please, but to take back the print stopped previous day on the reverse page 70 as you can’t choose “continue a stopped printing” so you need to enter all pages like 70,72,74,76 and in back order so I asked GPT to write this list and then a test with 4 pages it was like page 78 on where should be 70 so I gave up

So as it took me about 2H this morning to finally get a 4 pages without marges maybe I can upload it somewhere ?

As first dowloading adobe pro, then needs to activate, still not valid, trying online, still some bugs, etc…

At the end asking GPT if it can’t do it itself, still too much mages, trying again and at the end “chat is tool long you need to restart one”

Restarting GPT with direct prompt and uploading again the file, and downloading again the result. And all that to try printing saving paper !

Edit it was finally too small as my printer must add marges around. So 1hour more asking GPT to do the same with 2 pages but strangely not able to do it directly so gave me python prompt (had to install python) that were bugging every time, so at the end GPT gave me link for online converter but at the moment to print I realize it could be not that practical to read with 2 in 1 when turning pages depeding how it’s printed and I’m saturated in considering how to print it correctly this way

I don’t care siri reading !!! I like to have the manual aside when I’m on the machine , wich is actually 5M away from computer with complete chaos between (wood panels, tools, bottles, tubes, etc…)

Actually if I bought the Hapax (and used a 3x paying method for 1st time of my life as my bankcard limit was reached for the month!!) it was specially to relax from the headaches of building every day DIY shelves, stairs and all that in the norms for camping cars… and playin on Elektron sequencer was really boring me for missing the setting of uTime for the whole sequence and other basics.

And finally instead of relaxing and having fun it’s a new headache to print the manual (that I can then read for life without energy). I’ve finally been reading a lot from computer but I’m surely disapointed for such an expensive machine

If it’s about updates honestly they can live some blank to add notes, and moreover you need manual to get the basics then you quickly remind for the new functions added later

I already heard about that, but it’s new shipping costs I guess !!!
And when you buy a unit you like to have direct fun, and a paper manual is just the best way

Moreover for this particular machine that’s probably affected in a large part by people who’re not really into stacking their computer !

I decided to re take my abandonned printing in full size just to take a read in my bed before sleeping .
Help of chat GPT to be sure, explaining wich page is on top, wich one is down, what has been already printed double side, etc…

It’s giving the list like 92,94,96,98,100,102,104,106,108,110,112,114,116,118,120,122,124,126,128,130,132,134,136,138,140,142,144,146,148,150,152,154,156,158,160,162,164,166,168,170,172,174,176,178,180 to paste and I try only 10 but they are on reverse order, so GPT gives the list in reverse order and I do a test with only 2 on blank paper and it s right order. I think I’m going crazy. And test after test GPT explains that it’s joigning by 2 .
So now GPT is offerint to do some more tests to be sure before offering the new list to print backside but I better give up as it was supposed to help relaxing reading paper, not talking 1hour long with GPT and printing paper for nothing again
