This is my third Hapax, and this time I’m not letting it go.
Over the past few years, I kept going back and forth. Every time I put together a DAWless setup, I eventually convinced myself that working in a DAW was the better option. It just seemed more practical. So I’d sell the hardware, return to the computer, and sooner or later the same realization would hit me again.
A DAW can do almost everything, but for me it just isn’t as inspiring. It lacks the tactile connection, the feeling of interacting with an instrument rather than software.
I also went through the whole OXI journey. It’s fantastic gear, and I have nothing but respect for what they’ve built, but in the end it just wasn’t the right fit for the way I like to work.
It took me a long time, and it cost me quite a bit of money, to finally accept what really works for me.
Now, with my third Hapax, I honestly feel like I’ve arrived where I belong: a hybrid workflow.
The creative process happens on the Hapax in a DAWless setup, and the final arrangement, mixing, and polishing happen in the DAW. For me, that’s the perfect balance and truly the best of both worlds.
And a huge thank you to the Squarp team. OS 3.2 is simply amazing. ![]()
