Multitrack recording while Sections are playing? Song mode question too

Looking into the Hapax to possibly replace Ableton for some live looping stuff I’m doing. Had a couple questions:

  1. If a track is armed for recording using the multitrack setup, are we able to record into the active Pattern in a Section while it’s playing back? And then say you switch to the next Section, and another pattern on the same track is programmed to play in this next Section, will it then record into that Pattern if the track is still armed while switching?

  2. Similarly, could you do this same type of recording into Patterns in the active Section while song mode is running?

  3. From my understanding you can’t program certain Sections to loop in Song Mode? If not, could you set a Section to play like 48 bars or whatever, and then manually advance to the next section in the song using the footswitch when you’re ready?

One more question. Can empty patterns (clips) be added into slots, or does there need to be some sort of dummy midi data inside the pattern for it to actually exist? Basically wanting to set up a bunch of empty patterns (aka clips) with set lengths in a song to record into live during playback of some other tracks with pre-recorded stuff like bass lines and some synth parts, program changes to my Perkons, etc.
