Kudos to you for noticing!
Don’t worry, it’s the intended design
It seems counter-intuitive at first glance, but it serves a very important purpose, with regard to uTime.
Let’s say you want to shift a note juste very slightly early, say -2%. You still want to see the note on the beat, and when you select that range, you expect to select the note as well. You should not have to select the previous step, just because technically it’s in the previous step’s range.
For that reason, selections go from -50% to +50%, centered around the start of the step.
We debated “hiding” this fact from the user interface, as it might be confusing (case in point, your email), but we ultimately chose not to, to accurately reflect the inner workings of selections, etc.
TL;DR: Don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal. It has to do with uTime.

Hi Thibault,
I really appreciate the fast awnser to my Email and the response to my Forum post as well.
But i think you might have missed the problem that it is creating whenever using the Multi Step Selection while attempting to Re-generate Multi Selected Steps while using the “Algo Generate” function.
If you dont mind to rewatch my video from time stamp “1min 39sec” you will understand my problem.
The problem is that since the Muli Step Selector is -50% Utime Off. Multi selected steps “Re-Generated Algo” Notes will also be Offset by -50% Utime.
Completly destructing the 4/4 time structure used in my Video.
Dont get me Wrong, i do understand the part where this Multi Selection method help when a note have a -2% Utime so it can still be selected in conventional ways.
But on the Other side what i want to select is:
-first Step at 0% to the the Last Step at 100%
When right now what i am selecting is:
-First Step at -50% and last Step at +50%
So trying to help users Multi Selecting notes that (they themself set to be -Offset).
You are Blocking Users that do not want that Offset to be Included have to Manualy Move the Algo Generated part by a +50% Everytime an Algo Geration is produce making the beauty of quickly genarated note unusable.(Because all of the generated notes are offset by -50% Utime, Because the generated notes are based on the Multi Steps Selection Zone.
I have also noticed that when Multi Selecting
Steps in (Automation) This -50% Utime offset is Not applied.
I wish the the multi selection zone would be like that for (Step)
English is not my main language so plz forgive me if some parts are not as clear as i wish they would.
Thx again for the magnificent Piece of Hardware that you guys have engineered.
It is the 8th wonder of the world to me !!
@THIBAULT: I might have asked before but could you make it somehow possible (maybe by holding SECOND) to select any combination of steps? This would be so helpful for batch microshift, batch fx treatment, etc. Thank you!
