Just got a Squarp Hapax today, so it’s possible I am missing something - but it certainly doesn’t feel like it.
I’ve been testing different configurations to see how Hapax best fits into my workflow. Very early on, I set the CLOCK SOURCE = USB DEVICE (Ableton Live) and it worked as desired.
For the first half of the day, I set MIDI START/STOP = – (USE ONLY PADS). Hapax was receiving clock from Live, but I could start/stop via the buttons (as expected).
For the second half of the day, I had MIDI START/STOP = ON (CLOCK INPUT) and it Hapax would start/stop along with the control messages it received from Live (also as expected).
I’m attempting to set it back to MIDI START/STOP = – (USE ONLY PADS) and it is still only responding to Live start/stop control messages. The start/stop buttons do nothing. I’ve attempted to SAVE. I’ve attempted to restart the entire device and confirm upon coming back up that it’s still showing MIDI START/STOP = – (USE ONLY PADS). However the start/stop buttons still aren’t working.
I confirmed BPM changes with BPM updates in Ableton, so clock is arriving. When I update that to “MIDI Auto,” I noticed it switches to Internal but no longer receives clock from Live - even when it’s playing (and no settings have changed in Live that we just confirmed clock was being sent).
Any idea what might be going on here? Most importantly why when set to MIDI START/STOP = – (USE ONLY PADS), it is still only responding to START/STOP from Live and not local?
Thank you in advance!
