Latency compensation on Beta 2.00B [solved randomly]

Hello,

Hapax is synced via clock pulses from silent way in Ableton. Everything Hapax outputs is right on the grid when I am sequencing my instruments without a sequencer. However, I am trying to sync an external sequencer (Octatrack) in order to have its output also right on the grid, but recordings from Octa are a tiny bit late, so not locked on the grid. Nothing terrible and can be worked afterwards but the latency is noticable.

I have tried all midi outputs sending clock to Octa. Applying positive latency compensation makes recordings from Octatrack further from the grid, so applying more latency is obviously working, but negative values have no effect, all the way down to -500 ms. Exactly the same result as having 0 in the clock output latency setting. Has anyone else experienced this or am I perhaps doing something wrong? Maybe this is related to Hapax being synced via clock pulses, but that is the only reliable way to have it 100% tight sync with Ableton’s way of handling latency and external sequencers.

Thanks

Ive always found Abletons clock to be a bit poor (wanders on Elektron gear quite alot). Its super noticeable with the Octatrack’s synced fx.
For me i set the Hapax as the master clock and have Ableton use the external clock instead.
Everything stays nicely synced for me with the hapax clock as the master.
Might be worth a try?

I use Silent Way from expert sleepers for sync. Good news… for some reason it worked 100% today! -12 latency did the job. Strange it did not yesterday… but 2.00 is fantastic!
