One thing I dont understand about Hapax is: when you get instrument definitions via device or online (Im sure the latter gets updated with new updates) does the device recieve all perimerers from the device via sis-ex messages or just the perimeters related to Hapax Squarp? An explanation is apreciated
Instrument definitions are very simple manual mappings to make setup more convenient. They don’t read anything from the device being controlled. They effectively capture settings that you would make for a track on the hapax itself.
Thank you for the reply! Do I just download them from the forum, or are they included in the update? Also, is it possible to load saved presets from the device attached to the Hapax? For instance, once I save a drum kit on my drum machine used for the Hapax pattern can the Hapax load that preset from the drum machine? This would make things a lot easier!
For pattern and kit changes, you will have to check your target machine’s midi implementation and use program changes feature on the hapax.
You’ll find most of them here tagged under “ instrument definition “ below the thread title, or you can make your own by downloading a blank template and filling in the information, or you could just edit an existing one , by changing the information.
Here’s a link to the definition sub forum
What you need to do is , copy and paste all the text in the box ( comment is the last line ) to a .txt file on your computer then save it , and then drag and drop to the project folder of the hapax sd card .
Make sure your txt editor is set to .txt and NOT rich text , and you want to make sure its format is ut8
Here a thread about doing it on a Mac
