Is there a way to have a section infinitely looping in song mode, so the following part can only be triggered manually ?
I think this is currently not possible. A workaround could be to switch the playback mode from “Song” to “Performance” manually during the song and setup pattern follow actions, so they follow eachother and the last in a sequence will go back to the first.
It would be nice to be able to set Song loop points, so the current “Loop” playback mode actually loops between those points instead of the whole song.

Yep, but that’s not really the kind of stuff I want to do when playing live.
They do officially recommend that method in the manual, so it’s not like you’re relying on some unsanctioned behavior. But yes, would be nice to program in a start point for the section or something, in case you missed it.
Tip When a song is playing, it is possible to set the mode to PERFORM : the song playback will be paused, allowing you to do live improvisation, manual pattern changes, … Then you can go back to PLAY SONG or LOOP SONG to continue the song playback.
Another part of me wonders if theres a way to use a 2nd project for this… but that sounds even more complicated.
