How well does hapax handle midi control from another controller?

Considering Melbourne Instruments roto-control
This unit has automation and memory on 8 rotary controllers
Idea is:
to pass MIDI CC messages to Hapax and then control Hapax’s CV outputs to modular modules
and
to drive and change hapax sequences from the roto-control

Is this a viable plan?
Trying to have recallable automation drive sequences AND cv outputs

I just tested that Hapax can be set so that CC automation can turn the Roto-Control’s knobs. That’s literally all I’ve had time for so far.

My intended use is to get the Roto set up, labelling the knobs to map to specific Hapax CV outs and then make Roto knob moves in real time and capture that as automation in Roto’s memory?

Or, capturing the knob motions in the Hapax as sequenced CV value moves?

I am willing to get a Roto to try this

What I want to know before I try and get blocked with flat forehead syndrome:

Is it possible for Hapax to receive MIDI streams FROM the Roto, convert MIDI CC’s into CV values sent out the Hapax CV outs AND store the MIDI streams sent from the Roto in the Hapax as sequences!!

If this usage is possible, I will get a Roto and begin the experiment!
