How to Import MIDI Files into Hapax (Simple + Clear)

I couldn’t find a clear answer on the forum, so here’s the easy way to do it:

Step 1 – Create the MIDI Folder

  • Write a short MIDI clip on any track.

  • Export it to the SD card.

  • This automatically creates the root MIDI folder on the SD card.

Step 2 – Add Your Own MIDI Files

  • Remove the SD card and open it on your computer.

  • Drop your MIDI files into the newly created MIDI folder (on the root of the drive).

  • Put the SD card back in the Hapax.

That’s it — you’re good to go.

Simple and straightforward explanation. I have requested Squarp to add a feature whereby you don’t have to remove the SD card and access the sd-card via USB. They will look into this but not sure if this will be added in the future. Would also be cool to have subfolders in the midi main directory.

This was something I could already do on the Octatrack, so it’s absolutely fantastic to have it here as well. It dramatically improves my workflow and makes the whole process much more efficient.
