Say I set the note length to 3 and enter a pad. How do I add a half note to that note entry? I am only able to get to note lengths under 1 when entering a new note. On extending an existing note, i only see options of whole numbers.
You have to zoom in and then extend the note.
I really hope Hapax will change this, as it is pretty cumbersome imo.
An option for fine adjustment of the note length would be perfect. Just show the note lengths in decimals (0.5 and 1.00 instead of 1/2 and 1)
@Maarten got it thanks. Yeah I think that is far too much effort to add a half note. I feel like you should be able to click in encoder or hold second and click in to add half notes. If those are taken well, something similar.
honestly it is really painful to see what you are doing when you get ultra zoomed in and understand exactly what you are adding and how zoomed you are. that is normally ok, because im not doing much editing while zoomed in, but when trying to extend notes that just isn’t very good,.
it’s how Deluge’s grid works (zooming into 8th, 16th, 32d, 64th note level) for step entry and while i prefer Hapax’s method generally, you get used to it pretty quickly tbh – there’s also something to be said for the way Deluge allows entering of note length directly on the grid by pressing the pads v. dialing in note length via encoders on Hapax. one alt method (which is how many other Squarp secondary functions seems to work) would be pressing down on the note length encoder while dialing to get increments between 1 whole note, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16th etc.
Please consider suggesting easier note length adjustments as a feature to Squarp by filling the contact form. The more people asking it, the likelier it will be changed
I’d rather have decimals for fine adjustments. I think the standard should be per 0.25 increments and when turning faster, accelerate to per 1.
When holding and turning, change per 0.01
Tbh, I prefer fractions or grid numbers rather than decimals. If you come from a classical music background, you’re probably used to thinking of notes in terms of fractions already, or at least I am.
I agree it could be more streamlined, but I don’t think changing it to decimals is the answer, since it’ll just make it easier for some and harder for others without making it easier for everyone overall.
