How do I access Macros for live adjustment?

Hi there. I have had the hapax for a couple of years.

I’m trying to start using macros.

I can assign them fine.

But I cannot work out and isn’t in the documentation is how to then use these.

In pattern mode I get the performance grid.

In step mode I get step parameters.

All I want to be able to do is adjust the values while I’m playing the loops, but it seems after I’ve assigned the values I cannot find the screen that will allow me to adjust these values.

Each display mode has it’s values assigned to the encoders relevant to that display, such as live mode etc. so in what view do I get to use the encoders as macros, other than when I’m assigning them.

I hope that makes sense.

I’d love to know how!

I think you’ve basically discovered the way it works: Assigning and displaying/accessing the knobs are all on the same page!

Hold 2ND + Press fill to display assignments on the left screen.

macros have only one assignment? seems like you should be able to assign more than one dstination

Favorite Hapax tricks in 3.10

Something you can do with almost any synth is appropriate a standard MIDI source parameter as your “macro.” For example, Digitone, like many modern synths, allows sources mod-wheel, breath, pressure, and aftertouch to be assigned to multiple parameters. Since you’re likely not using breath as a source, that can be your “macro.” Assign up to 4 parameters (max on Digitone) and send automation to CC2 from the Hapax. You can do the same with mod wheel if you’re not using one.
