Hermod as offset generator

Hey there everyone,

I have an OG hermod, but I reckon they should be identical regarding this. I am using digitakt to sequence my whole setup and I want to send midi from digitakt to hermod, so that I could use a knob on digitakt as offset knob for the CV that’s going to modular. That could be done with just MIDI fx, but then if I want to quantize it to a certain scale, I can’t. Is there a workaround to be able to send quantized offset CV via MIDI that’s coming into Hermod?

You can use the scale effect on hermod to scale the outgoing CV/Midi, instead of the incoming Midi? or did i get something wrong? : )

Hey Nemoy,
Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately this doesn’t work. Basically I’m trying to send ofset, now I just try to send offset in general, but can’t seem to find any way to send offset via CV at all, no matter from MIDI or generated internally…

I’ve forgotten how the OG Hermod works, but I’m sure you can send Midi CC to the Mod Matrix to control the Transpose value of a Scale effect. This will essentially transpose (offset) and quantize to the Scale you have selected.

That should do what I think you’re hoping to do?

Hey KidYoshi, apparently it has no effect if there’s no pitch information going through. The only way I could think of was I checked every scale note and what kind of voltage it outputs and then handmade a list of which note outputs which offset value and then made a short loop with a continuous note and then modulated it to a different pitch to match the offset value needed. It feels very tedious but I couldn’t find another way to make it, if someone figures out an easier way please let me know!
