Hello All - I have been using the Hapax for a few months now, however I am trying to get all my keyboard synths to run both midi in and out and I keep running into issues. I seem to get a variety of problems (midi notes ‘sticking’ or the midi death loop. Sometimes the Hapax seems to trigger random notes, sometimes like a metronome even when it is off). I have no problems at all running midi notes out, and using an external controller to control the hapax, but as soon as I start to send the midi back out from my keyboard synths I get problems. I have tried turning all the synths to local mode off as well, and I seem to still have problems. It is not just one synth either.
Does anyone have any insights?
MX-1 is master clock and sends to the Hapax. I am using MidiSolutions Thru and Merge Boxes, but even not using those I still get issues.
If I am using Track 1 I am also sending Midi out on channel 1 (Midi out A) and Receiving on Channel 1 (Midi in A). I have set each track to the corresponding midi channels.
You may be creating a death loop with MIDI Channel 1 in being push back out on MIDI Channel 1. I don’t know your setup so this is a challenge to help troubleshoot but you might try seperating In and Out to different channels on the hapax and instrument and see if that doesn’t help.
not sure this is related to the feedback loop but is there a reason you made MX-1 the clock instead of Hapax (as the MIDI brain for everything) clocking the MX-1?
Maybe I am confused, most of my synths seem to only let you select one midi channel, so I assume that channel is for both in and out? Or is that only for in?
I tried the other way too and had similar issues, then I saw Mr. Tuna Music on Youtube had a similar setup and was using his MX-1 as master clock so thought I would try that.
thanks (mostly curious because i tried running MX-1 off my Deluge’s clock, and as a USB submixer for my MPC One but got some latency that just wasn’t working. might try clocking everything from MX-1 and seeing if that changes anything)
