This release introduces brand-new features, most notably MPE support and Virtual Cables, along with important bug fixes and performance improvements. We’d love for you to try it out and help us test what’s coming next.
This is an open beta, you can jump in right now!
Just head over to this alternate beta website to download the update. The updated online manual is also available there with a new MPE dedicated page.
Send all feedback to beta@squarp.net (you can also reach us through our new contact form here). We’re not accepting feature requests at this stage, but we welcome bug reports and general feedback.
For all bugs, please provide a clear step by step procedure to reproduce it, so that we can fix it more easily.
Older firmware versions won’t be able to open project created with beta versions: it is recommended to make a backup of your projects before upgrading to this beta.
Thanks for being part of shaping this firmware with us!

Thanks for the update. When I go to the updated beta online manual I can’t see anything about USB devices? I’ve connected the Hapax to a USB hub, but when I try to select a USB device they are not named, just called DEV1, DEV2 etc.
I use a mioXL between HAPAX and Osmose and that has the same result compared to direct connection with Osmose (meaning it works). But still recording good MPE from Osmose to HAPAX does not work for me (despite all the recommended settings). E.g. the PB data per note are not arriving in HAPAX at all. Recording direktly on HAPAX works - but with less expression. I will test more…
I think Jonny referred to USB Devise not to USB Host. I use a USB hub for the USB devise connecting the Hapax via the hub to my Mac and that works. Have not tried this yet with the new beta.
I got Kingston Nucleum USB-C hub / dock connected to iPad pro M1, and Hapax connected to the USB-C hub. For me the virtual midi ports appear, and they work.
In Hapax they are DEV2, DEV3 and so when you push and scroll the output button when USB DEVICE is selected. In host software (Loopy Pro) they appear as HAPAX Port 1, HAPAX Port 2…
plenty of bandwidth over usb! no need to crowd a bunch of commands onto one buss! nice. you could really flesh out a template for your daw and just turn on and go! stuff like the rk006 on the other side of a daw are making a bit more sense now!
edit: and the output fx now has plenty of simultaneous discreet connections for routing midi to its own destination in the daw. great for editing after a jam… for the radio mix of course
edit2: so the output fx doesnt seem to make use of the virtual cables yet, holding down the knob on the buss selector knob turns off the effect.
but loading virtual outputs with holding down the knob works pretty well!
What is the idea behind the BPM nanotune feature? Is it a kind DJ style of tempo nudge feature? If so, wouldn’t it make sense to have a shortcut to do this and also to reset it automatically?
