Hapax rubber buttons Over Time

Hapax arrived a couple of hours ago

Simple question

do the rubber buttons loosen up over time

To much effort required to trigger notes

they’re never gonna get Deluge-level soft (in my experience) if that’s what you mean. i haven’t been super tough on my Hapax in three years of off-on use but that resistance is basically the resistance

yeah

a tad disappointing but not the end of the world

its not an issue when youre a hardcore step writer. i input velocity surgically. im not disappointed. but then im also a tracker user. but hey if its your style to input notes by playing i could see your viewpoint.

I use step input but I also play parts manually. Might be a 50/50 ration. I knew I would need a keyboard but I thought I would be able to do some music and drum bits with the pads ( in real time) but now im not so sure. In my opinion the pads are a bit to resistant.

But hey, very early days so lets see how it goes

i had that thought once or twice but the rest of what i can do with step input took over and i dont think about the pads so much. the combination of all the fx and modulation took over and i realized it does so much for my pattern writing that the small drawbacks paled in comparison.

Hmm, I don’t have any problems with it and actually use it to improvise on the isomorphic keyboard: https://youtu.be/4c7Qvuo1ESg

Great stuff man, but not quite the same as what I do.

Think Jeff Mills on a 909. That kind of fluidity is what I need but so far I get many mistriggers when muting or unmuting, launching multiple parts at once etc. I will see how it goes over the weekend

yeah I can tell if the user writes mostly in step mode then no problem.

Im going to play around with it over the weekend and see if I can gel with the pads a bit more. I can do without the need to play musical parts or drums via the pads, but It needs to be fluid when muting, launching parts in real time. But at the moment I get to many errors ie a pad doesnt mute or unmute when manipulating multiple pads at the same time.

All that said though I do like the sequencer a lot + all those connections AND the fact I could send a clock pulse via the CV from ABleton which is much better than midi clock from a PC
