Hapax and CV / Gate

So I have a techno system from Erica Synths and I’ve hooked up the Hapax to the Bassline module. I’m new to modular, so bear with me.
What I want to do it sequence notes, gate length and accents.

So I am not at the unit now, but I think I hooked gate1 out of hapax to gate in of the bassline and CV1 out into CV in on the bassline.

My question is, on the hapax, say I have track 12 set to CV/Gate 1
I was able to sequence the bassline and change notes, but it’s not responding to velocity. Any ideas why?

Thanks

You’re on the right path with the Hapax outputs for gate and cv(v/oct) to the bassline, however you’ll have to also route a cv connection for the velocity. You can do this in the effects matrix (the modmatrix specifically) where you can have the velocity output to a specific cv-out on the Hapax.

Looks like the Bassline only has an input for the accent so maybe there is another module which utilizes this feature. Otherwise velocity control in eurorack can be a bit hit or miss - most of the modules I’ve found only respond to a gate/trigger and disregard any attenuation. I’ve found that you can use the velocity parameter for other modulation opportunities within a eurorack system so maybe you can find a use for it somewhere else (maybe controlling a vca that could recreate a velocity effect)

Like Kadabadik explained, you need a VCA or an Envelope Generator with built in VCA (like Javelin). Some modules like Plaits (and clones) have a dedicated level CV input.
