Hi, i want a global transpose option for selected note tracks and struggle with this.
I read about the transpose track, but have not figured this out and would rather use this in realtime and not dedicate a track to this. Is this possible?
I use a Keystep via Midi as Note controller input to record and would like to a use a CV controller with stored pitch values to globally transpose all playing sequences. I tried to enable the CV inputs C/D (set to CV/Gate pair) on all Note tracks and while this transposes new Notes, it does not offset/effect the playing sequence when sending CV values as expected.
It would also work If i can specify a dedicated Midi channel for global transpose duties, so that i can just switch to eg Midi channel 16 and this will offset all tracks that have Transpose enabled.
Is this possible?
P.s. I have not updated to the very latest firmware yet.
Many thanks in advance and thanks for the great firmware updates and support
That’s what midi Track 8 is best used for I know, loosing a channel for just that sounds a bit bad, but there’s so many channels on hermod+ that you should be able to easily work with the 15 others : )
Go to the input settings on hermods Midi Track 8 and set it to listen only to a your specific Midi channel you want to use for transposing.
And then you can specify for each of the other channels, if they react to the transpose channel, or not.
Every note input on from the specified midi channel on channel 8 results in all the channels with “Track Transopose” active to be transposed acording to the note value, you sent to channel 8.
This is both realtime AND sequencable → You can record sequences of “transpositions” if you want to.
thanks for the reply and suggestions. I’m gonna try this . being able to record transpositions and easyly create harmonic variations sounds great. i was expecting to have a transpose track type i could not find, but will try tonight and consult manual if i get stuck. I was previously using 2 precission adders to be able to transpose sequences in realtime or use a simple 8 step sequencer to sequence the tranpositions Doing the same with just 1 Midi track is a small price to pay.
