I can see plenty of use cases for this :
Yeah this would be great!
I have been thinking about this:
It would be great if they made an Insert Effect:
This would insert midi received from any of the other tracks (or even the same track, to bypass the effects before this effect) and insert it in the desired position of the the chain of effects.
It would be even better to choose betwee pre/post effects of the source track, or maybe even a specific position (example: route midi from track 1 after the arpeggiator effect, but before the delay effect to track 2).
This would make internal fx routing extremely flexible.
I thought this was already possible somehow, like with the output effect or something. But I haven’t really payed attention to those kinds of use cases. I like the idea though!
The output effect routes the midi of a track to a certain physical output. You can’t route to another track.
You could then create a loopback by connecting the output to an input with a midi cable though, but that’s more of a workaround.
I’ll just say I’m using this and it works very well.
Depending on where your MIDI goes before it loops back, you may get some latency which might move stuff a tiny bit off-grid.
To solve this, simply put a ‘marker note’ bang on the 1 of the first beat of the pattern. You can put it on C0 or G8 so it’s out of the way, and put it on 0% Chance so it makes no sound.
Now when you record your pattern back in, you can check if the marker note moved to the right (and by how much).
If it did, zoom in all the way to pink, then simply select All and then move everything a tiny bit to the left etc. It sounds complicated but it’s not. Plus, it often doesn’t matter.
Being able to play MIDI FX live and record that back to pattern is absolutely huge!
Rerouting midi CC to different tracks would be huge for me also, would solve the need for macro knobs.
BTW a cc filter [range]/ remapper [copy Cc to differnt CC] fx would also be super.
CC remapper for sure would be great!
We do have a CC filter already in the Filter FX. If you invert the values it can allow/reject specific ranges etc. Quite handy.
Personally I’d love to have full MIDI CC control over every FX paramater of every FX slot. Full and total control.
At the very least, double the Matrix to 8 slots. 4 is nowhere near enough for me, especially as I’m having to sacrfice one for global swing.
