I wished that when you hold a pad containing no notes, and you turn an encoder, it would create a note.
Currently you have to tap a note (to create a note) and then tap and hold it and turn an encoder.
It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but that would greatly improve my workflow.
Usually I have a precise idea in mind of what param I’m going to change straight away when I’m inputing a note manually.
Example : I’ve got a hi-hat pattern with one hit every 2 steps. Now on every 2 (n+1) step, I want to input hits with a low velocity. You get the idea ?

I think the original reason for having to hit it first is that you might be selecting a range with the pads rather than inputting a note when you hold down a pad. But I don’t see an issue with your idea, sounds cool. I would send them an email!
As an aside, the Every-N algo in drum track might help you with that specific task. Hapax Manual | Squarp instruments
