my main encoder is skipping values. i dont even use it much. certainly not enough to wear it out. does my aluminum wheel destroy it? its not heavy.
im wondering if this is happening to my main encoder if it will start to happen to the other encoders? should i replace them all?
by the way tom at squarp says this is a high quality replacement but wont require as much torque to turn… is bournes encoder…
I’m experiencing a similar issue with the top-left encoder (the one used to switch between perform or play song mode or edit PC values). When I turn it clockwise, it functions correctly, but when I turn it counterclockwise, it skips values or starts incrementing erratically instead of decrementing. This problem occurred shortly after the last update, but it doesn’t appear to be a software issue. Thanks for sharing the reference, do you have any idea about how easy (or hard) it is to swap the encoders for new ones?
no not yet. im not looking forward to it. i may just pay a pro to do it for me
Have you tried “exercising” the encoders?
Simply try doing around 50 turns in one direction and 50 turns in other direction 2-3 times.
It might not work on Hapax encoders, but it often “heals” encoders on other gear.

im also certain squarp has oem encoders available upon request. Tom did mention they exist.
I guess this happens due to noise, I mean dust, obstructing the optical diodes or what have you…
Not sure about the exact electro-mechanics, simply said it’s a machine equivalent of bio-mechanical “use it or loose it”
