I just checked this.
Unless I overlook it on Hapax Manual | Squarp instruments , there is no mention in the manual of single quote being an illegal character
The Hapax also loads it perfectly fine:

You really are adding a lot of noise to this forum for no reason. Better spend your time making music with the Hapax and learning how to use it.

haha this guy

the template says

 # Supports all alphanumeric ASCII, and ' ', '_', '-', '+' - can also be NULL

So Validator is following the spec which excludes " / " and " ’ ", but spec could be incomplete. I’ll confirm!

Thanks for the feedback! I talked to Hapax and sure enough, their instrument def. docs are a bit out of date. Now alphanumeric and all the following characters are allowed:

' ' # space
'_'
'-'
'+'
'/'
'('
')'
'\''
'"'
'*'
','
'.'
'!'
':'
'='
'<'
'>'
'?'
'@'
'$'

I’ve updated the validator with those character and added several additional checks.

The Hapax team supports my effort with the validator. The validator is intended to help people who struggle with the format avoid errors. Sorry for the noise :pray:t2: I was accurately following an out of date spec, but your feedback has helped make things better :+1:t2:

Very cool! Would you have the NAVA 909 or EXTRA9? Thanks!

Should be very easy to make, copy this and change the note numbers. Probably can get them from Instrument Definition: Roland TR-09 (assuming they chose same mapping)
