Dropping/Disconnecting USB Device

not sure if this has been asked in the past, I was trying to search the other topics for it, but nothing seemed similar to what I’m experiencing currently.

I have had the Hermod+ For a little over a month, Absolutely love everything about it and completely blown away. :raising_hands:t5::sparkles::musical_notes::double_exclamation_mark:

However, one thing that’s confusing me and I’m not sure what’s causing it, I have now tried connecting two different USB type controllers to the USB device jack, And after a short amount of time,

it will just disconnect in those controllers don’t control anymore. causing me to have to turn them on and off, or disconnect them by unplugging and replugging them from/to the hemrod+ to then acknowledge them again.

One controller is powered independently(Nifty Keys) and the other controller (key step pro) is accepting the power from the USB connection.

so I’m not sure that is a variable at all since those are two different scenarios one operating on their own power and one accepting the USB power.

Basically after playing in a few sequences
And then once you start paying attention to your modules and doing your thing in the rack, when go back to the controller, it doesn’t see the controller anymore.

Thanks to anyone in advance that could help shed some light on this.

Hi,

First of all, thanks for the kind words

Firstly, make sure Hermod+ is running the latest firmware. We improved the USB host compatibility and resiliency in version 1.31, which admittedly was some time ago, so you might already be running an even more recent version.

Then, one possible culprit for this issue could be electromagnetic interference, which varies wildly from case to case, so it can be very hard to debug. Have you tried plugging your devices with a USB cable that features a ferrite ? It’s this thing:

With any luck, that will do the trick.

Otherwise, this is something we’ll have to look into in more depth
