Doubling pattern length and halfing speed

when selecting a range of notes i can extend them to so they effectivly are played back slower or faster . Cool.

But why this isnt working when selecting all notes? It stops at the end of the pattern , when the notes would extend over the end of the pattern.

How cool would be if there was a shortcut to simply double a pattern to the half or double speed.
Or when extending over the end of the pattern, it extends the patternlength automatically

Hold 2nd and press + to double the pattern length. Then halve the timing (warping), then you’re there, right?

I think it does make sense that Hapax respects the pattern length that is set when warping notes or doing any other transformation on selected notes. It could be confusing if the pattern length would be automatically changed when warping. Especially, since it only applies to the selected notes, which could also be a small part of the pattern. It is not a “apply to complete pattern”-action, like the double/halve pattern length (2nd and + or -) or the duplicate/divide pattern (2nd and > or <) action.

So, if you want your pattern to play at half speed, just extend first and the warp. If you want to double the speed, warp first and then halve the pattern length (2nd and -). It is only 1 more step.

yeah i agree it could be confusing if the pattern just gets extended. But it was also quite confusing that i couldn’t scale the selected | all notes behind the end of the pattern.

What happens to the timing if timewarp the pattern? I mean i click several times so it goes to 90, 80,70,60,50% … i find this not convenient . Or was there a short cut for halving/doubling the warp speed?

It seems to be dependent on the view scale. I would also like a quicker, more reliable way to just go straight to double time.

Another way I’ve stumbled on to do this is using Warp in the Step-Mode selection.

  1. Play the notes in, realise they need to be half time, panic etc.
  2. Go to step mode. Press 2nd + “+” to double the pattern length
  3. Hold down “all” to select all the notes, and press “+” 32 times (???) to warp the selection until it’s the doubled in length. Basically you’re looking for the point where the length display in the left-most window, doubles - so if my last note input was 1, I’d hold “all” and press “+” until it says 2.

Would be nice to have this as a macro or something!
