Hello to everyone,
I have no experience with modular gear but I have some synths that have cv ins (Dreadbox Erebus, Doepfer Dark energy and others).
I was thinking about using Pyramid envelope, cv and gate out to modulate 2 or more of those synths in sync and directly from Pyramid, would a simple cable splitter be fine or I’d need an active cv multiplier?
I also see that there is a midi to cv converter like Doepfer MCV4 that could be used from a Pyramid midi out but I would like to avoid buying an extra box since Pyramid already has cv outs.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion
a midi2cv would give you more outputs.
if you just want to replicate the same cv/gate/mod to multiple synths.
you could use a splitter (aka passive multiple) , but you will lose voltage.
for general modulation/gates/clocks, this loses of precision voltage is often ok…
however, it wont work if you need precision e.g. v/oct pitch.
so, Id say give it a go… within these constraints. see if it gives you what you need.
then look to midi2cv boxes later, if you find you need more cv.
(*) note: gates/clocks - voltage levels required vary with synths/modules, so whilst many will be fine, some will struggle as voltage level drops.
Yes, it’s only for modulations, pitch is sent via midi
Thanks, those are a bit overkill for me, I just need to split an envelope to 2 synths maximum 3
