Custom midi note names for POLY tracks, like DRUM

Why can’t I create a Hapax instrument definition file with custom note names (like we could with the Pyramid). The Hapax supposed to be a better Pyramid. When I ask Google AI it says it uses the same format as the Pyramid which is obvious a hallucination (N00: MyKick 1 N01: MyKick 2 etc etc).

I know how to do this for DRUM tracks (albeit ONLY 8 lanes) but can’t find any tutorial how to custom name notes in POLY tracks. To be able to custom name the 128 pads was the main reason for me to finally upgrade from the Pyramid and it seems not possible??? :angry: :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

Can someone please tell me if it’s possible in the 2.21 firmware to custom name midi notes in POLY tracks? Thanks.

i dont think there is a way but ive never needed that. maybe request it? it would be nice to have that.

Yeah it’s amazing that a 10 year old Pyramid could do more than a recent product like the Hapax: 16 tracks vs 64 tracks, 32 bars vs 384 bars per track, 1-280 BPM vs 10-999 BPM, MIDI clock BPM FX, NO FREAKING CUSTOM MIDI NOTES

Renaming custom notes in POLY tracks would solve the 8 lane drumtrack restriction. For instance my Yamaha RX drumbox has 99 voices which I mapped to notes 0-99. I literally bought the Hapax thinking I could layout these voices to the 128 pads and select them by name rather by note name (who could remember 99 voices by a note number? WHO???

I did send in a feature request, hope they do something with it. My dial goes only to ten because it’s the actual dial I created for my MaxMSP Prophet 600 editor haha!

Had to look it up though and one of the references was an epic track called “Eleven - Avatar” LOL
