Can't hold/latch steps selected in Hapax

Aren’t we supposed to be able to have a selection of steps stay selected after let go?

I know how to select steps across columns, and how to select an area of steps via the 2nd button. I know how to press one pad, keep pressing, then press the other pad at the opposite corner of the area I want.

But I don’t know how to keep it selected. I’m running OS 2.21.

Any tips?

FYI, I’m doing this to try to apply the Curve Algo successfully. But in general, I’m concerned I’m encountering a bug or some nuance I keep flubbing for multiple selections,

Hapax support said you can’t “latch” a selection of steps. You need to hold at least one finger down.
