I’m hoping this image explains the issue that I’m having - I know it must be something I’m doing wrong or misunderstanding about the module + xp32.

The XP32 module will replace the Midi track label when recognized. You should still be able to store midi tracks and use midi inputs and outputs the same way, you just additionally get the Gate/CV outputs.
I’ve only ever had the two modules working together, so I can’t speak to whether there are other distinctions, but my understanding is that it’s a both/and upgrade, you just won’t see the old midi label on the tracks.
