Can I change track length in general?

If I don’t change manually on each pattern the track length is always pre-determined to a bar, right?

I think this is annoying, or am I missing something. I’d like to predetermine on some track the length to longer patterns (like 4,6,8 bars)…

[2nd] + [Live] will bring you to the recording settings. Turn on “Looper” and it will automatically extend the length of the bar.

You could set up your template by setting one track the way you want and copying it to all the other tracks. Then any new program will have those settings.

The looper doesn’t help here. I want a pattern length preset of 8 bars for example.

Yeah, I had the same idea. But it’s really counter intuitive, totally! When jamming then I want to jam and not load presets, lol. Sometimes one has some quick ideas to lay down. So to me it doesn’t make any sense that each new pattern is automatically set to 1 bar length…

If you set this as your template every time you create a new file it will ask if you want to use your template and start jamming all the defaults will be set to your preferences.

Look for templates in the manual.

If you have a default project it’ll be loaded automatically as a starting point for new projects. Or do you need this to be different on each project?

You’re right, DEFAULT project, not template.

Default project is better than nothing. But sometimes I’m like into three bar patterns because that is what I hear right in the moment in my head, sometimes into long form 32 bars, or whatever. And then I just want to collect a whole lot of ideas/patterns. And the less button clicking preset/default loading is involved the better.
Like in Ableton where you can default a pattern length, for example…

Pressing [2nd] + [+] will double the length of your clip. If you do that 3 times, the length should be 8 bars I think.

Thank you very much! I am aware of all the function to set pattern/clip length. What I would want to see is a way to prevent 1 bar as the almighty omnipresent track length/preset. For me this would make sense: Pressing the track button, messing with the track length and automatically carry that over to the next (empty) clip for jamming and recording.

I don’t have my Hapax with me, so i cannot check this, however? Hapax Manual | Squarp instruments
In the track settings:
LENGTH 1 STEP … 32 BARS
Sets the length of the pattern in steps (1 step = 16th notes).
Tip Hold and Rotate encoder ⑥ for finer resolution.
**there you can set the default pattern length
**
Again not sure if this is what you require.. I hope it does.

Oh another option is copy paste (like duplicate in Ableton), which might not always what you want..

Now I am also not in front of my device. But in my case your described function was not a default solution. I set it up exactly as described by you, but when recording the next pattern after, it switched back to 1 bar…

Hmm, that does not seem to be the definition of a
”there you can set the default pattern length” for a track,
So I would say @squarpadmin this would be a bug?

Maybe it’s my messed up project, I don’t know. I will have another try tonight with a clean new project…

Well, this is something that I will check out as soon as I have hands on also!

I can’t find the line mentioning default pattern length

Oh wow, I cant find it either?! it was there since I literally copy pasted it. shame I did not make a screen shot

So Feature request then please?
