I doubt it as lot of people are either using the Hapax or the Hermod+ today but would like to know if anyone uses or used these two in a setup? I just always wanted a Pyramid and I bought one now , currently trying to pair it with a Zytnthian
Hello @rv0
I have a Zynthian V5.1, I had a weird problem. I’m on the latest oram. The Pyramid sends MIDI to the Zynthian but when I add more than one instrument it did not work as it should - it was playing just one instrument on every track and every MIDI channel. Today it seems to be working as it should I’m able to add instruments to different MIDI channels and they all play together.
I quite like the V5 it’s a very capable box and I’m happy with it. My setup right now is just the Pyramid and the Zynthian.
there’s a few gotcha’s here and there when it comes to midi routing. Be sure to doublecheck the settings globally and per track, sometimes it will follow whatever channel you play, sometimes its set to multichannel.
I created a snapshot with a lot of default stuff configured like I want. For example always a bass synth on channel 2, some default fx etc
Then I created subsnapshots per track (triggering different sounds/parameters)
I switch between them manually Live, I was doing beats externally (1010 blackbox), which means I can mix seamless from one track to other.
i had issues with “stuck notes”, or dropping notes, which happens less with USB control.
Hapax will be my next buy for a sequencer but atm I’m enjoying the Pyramid and like it a lot. Today for some reason I can’t seem to make the LFO MIDI effect on the Pyramid to work, it does nothing regardless of what CC# value I’m putting on.. all other MIDI effects work as they should, go figure.
Yeah the Pyramid is a gem, I used to own 2! Weird about the LFO. Perhaps check the MIDI Output Monitor to check what is (or isn’t) going on
As for the Zynthian, I think the Zynbleton stuff they are doing is really great, when used with a Launchpad Mini Mk3 it’s like a poor mans Hapax
But there’s still a lot of work regarding support for external midi devices.. The whole sequencing and everything about driving external midi on the Zynthian is a bit of an afterthought and very rough around the edges. Dev team is making a lot of progress but don’t expect a polished flow like commercial products at this time.
The internal sequencer in Oram is not bad at all, the arranger is poor, I haven’t tried the Vangelis version with all the new additions, I like what they did with the mixer and the effects and there’s a great selection of engines to choose from, all in all it’s a well packed box and they keep expanding with the features and refining.
Can’t seem to make the LFO to work, checked the MIDI log and it shows that it recieves the CC messages from the LFO but there’s no audible effect, which points the problem should be in Zynthian, weird..
It works now, for some reason it can not work with some of the instruments and works fine with others, I was even able to link a Drive control parameter on a distortion effect to the LFO effect in Pyramid.
