Good timing for you to mention this, since just yesterday, Squarp posted a teaser on their instagram for an upcoming expander. I’m betting that this is the hapax to hermod+ adapter module. ![]()
i follow them and didnt see that yet! great news
Wow, didn’t see that one. Good catch ![]()
to be fair, theres no caption and its blurry and spinning. i cant read what it says and i dont know how you are able to read it LOL! thats not much of a tease unless youre a forensic videologist
Look again closely at the spinning card in the teaser. It clearly says “Hermod+ Modular Brain” during one spin, then “Squarp expander”, and finally what looks like the Hapax button grid on the last. Here are some quick screengrabs where you can see it.
So is Core the long-awaited Hapax to XP32 adapter, or is there yet another module in development?
Yes, this is the “adapter” module they were referring to.
Some questions regarding using Core with Hapax.
- Is Core intended to replace Hermod+, or is there some use case where one would want to use Core with Hermod+?
- For people who already own a Hermod+, is there a reason to replace it with Core, or will Hermod+ get a firmware update so it does everything Core can do?
- Is midi the preferred method of connecting Hapax to Core? Can a single midi cable handle two XP32 when connected to Hapax?
- When connecting Core to Hapax, is this a smart connection or does it require extensive setup configuration?
Hi John,
Core can replace Hermod+, or you can use both (by syncing them together via USB). But xp32 will be connected to Core OR Hermod+.
I’m not sure that H+ will do everything core does, it’s possible, but not planned for the moment.
Prefered method is always USB (midi din/trs has a limited bandwidth)
For the moment, it requires configuration, mainly routing Hapax tracks to the correct output/channel.
Have a nice day!
