Recording over 32 bars by utilizing multiple patterns?

Maybe this is already a feature and I don’t know how to enable?

I would really like to record over 32 bars and I am under the impression that increasing the max pattern size is not an option. So I’m curious if it’s possible to continue or extend the recording length by utilizing the next non-active pattern? In theory - increasing the recordable limit to 16 x 32 bars.

I would absolutely love this.

can you do the old junglist trick of halving the bpm but programming it with finer resolution?

Appreciate the idea, I’m sure that would work - my main issue with that method is when I want to make longer recordings, I’m usually just jamming ideas out on top of an already recorded progression or bass. I would have to make a lot of edits and adjustments to what I already have down or to anything I have tempo synced… it’s do-able but it would nuke any flow I was in.

Thinking I may just have to open Logic back up when I want to record my aimless keying.

I’ve run into the same issue.

I know you can link to patterns together but idk if you can while recording into them.

I might have to try it when I get back to the studio but heres the idea.

Set pattern 1 to 32bars

Set pattern 2 to 32bars

Go to the pattern page and set pattern 2 to “follow” pattern 1 and then return to pattern one when done.

This will essentially give you a loop of 64 bars, but split up into two patterns.

However, I’m not sure if you can record while the machine makes the switch to the next pattern. Idk if it stops the recording or not.

I don’t see why not though. It’s worth a try.
