no im recording to tracks in the mpc from hapax over a midi cable. i basically capture the hapax output with all automations and fx to a loop in mpc’s sequencer. then it can be performed from the mpc or rolled into a splif… i mean a song using the tools on the mpc. i find the mpc way of tooling around tracks in its sequencer to be refreshingly easy and it sounds good. its only 96ppqn tho of course! but it opens up longer loop lengths than hapax lets you make.
Makes sense. Right now my focus has been more on playing the hapax live, which is where I found the MPC lacking. So I tend to load all midi / sequencing on the hapax and record them there. I do wish the MPC had a better warp function to change the BPM of loops based upon the midi clock input.
the act of bouncing to mpc 1000 is an added function that makes me happy. but you can of course ‘play live’ from hapax using the mpc as sampler over midi ALL YOU WANT TO! do you understand? also, get over the idea that you will send midi clock to the new akai stuff and get results you want. its not going to happen in my estimation. but it sure works well on older mpcs!
After very frustrating experience with InMusic Support and more note missing issues with the MPC it was enough for my taste.
I now switched to Bitwig completely. Controlling the DAW is working great with many many tracks, automation etc..
You make the DAW synch master but you actually won’t care. Even Flex Beat Player VST is working this way
